CCHS 4, Cambridge 5
CCHS battled for 4 runs off Cambridge's ace, but fell 5-4. Gunnar Lyons pitching brilliantly, giving up just 1 ER in 6 innings. Ryan McCullar led the offense, going 2-3 with an RBI.
Bedford 6, CCHS 5
CCHS rallied in the bottom of the 7th, but fell short, 6-5. Michael Soares (2-3) had a double, 1 run and 3 RBI. Micah Bennett (1-3) had 2 RBI and Liam Harrington (1-3) scored 2 runs. Soares pitched 5 strong innings, 2 ER and 9 Ks.
CCHS 3, East Boston 8
Not enough offense against a strong East Boston team. Down 4-0, CC rallied for 3 runs in the 3rd to make it 4-3, but the final was 8-3. Liam Harrington was 2-4 with a triple, 1 run and 1 RBI; Michael Soares was 2-3 with a triple, 1 run and 1 RBI. Nate Blunt pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief.

Blake Newcomb, Michael Soares, Ryan McCullar, Charlie Bernardin each had two hits, with Newcomb and Bernardin getting RBIs. McCullar and Douglas Fortier each scored a run.
Westford 8, CCHS 6
A furious rally in the bottom of the 7th fell short - CC scored 4 runs but lost 8-6. Liam Harrington went 3-5 with 1 RBI. Other top hitters were Blake Newcomb (2-5, 1 run, 1 RBI), Michael Soares (2-4, 1 run) and Charlie Bernardin (1-3, 1 run, 2 RBI). Great pitching from Gunnar Lyons (2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 Ks) and Michael Soares (5 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 6 Ks).
CCHS 14, Weston 1
Another offensive outburst. The first 6 batters of the game reach base for CC, leading to an 11 run first inning, on way to a 14-1 route. Blake Newcomb and Ryan McCullar led the way offensively --both were 3-3 with Newcomb getting 2 RBIs and scoring twice; McCullar had 3 RBIs and scored once. Other big days at the plate were from Liam Harrington (3 hits, 3 runs, 1 RBI), Michael Soares (2 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBI), and John Kielar (1 run, 2 RBI). McCullar was the winning pitcher, giving up 0 ER on just 1 hit in 3 innings, with 4 Ks. Ben Broxson (1 IP, 3 Ks) and Micah Bennett (1 IP, 2 Ks) were both stellar in relief.

Down 8-2 and 9-4, CCHS rallied to defeat another long time rival, Acton-Boxborough.
CC rallied for 3 runs in the 4th: Byron Woodman drove in a run with a single, Ryan McCullar scored a run with a ground ball, and Ben Broxson scored on a wild pitch to make it 9-7 after 4.
In the top of the 5th and a runner on 3rd base, Micah Bennett caught a fly ball and made a strong throw home to nab the runner trying to tag up, keeping the score 9-7.
In the bottom of the 5th, runs were driven by Michael Soares (sac fly), Bennett (ground ball), Ryan McCullar (single), Gunnar Lyons (ground ball), Charlie Bernardin (single). Another run scored on an error, making the score 13-9 CC, which held to the end.
Blake Newcomb led the offense, going 3-5 with 2 runs; Soares and McCullar both scored twice.
Bennett, McCullar, and John Kielar each had 2 RBI.
McCullar pitched 2 innings for the W, giving up just 1 hit and 0 ER.
Lyons and Bennett each pitched an inning to close it out.

The bats came alive in Wayland, with CC getting 12 hits and scoring 2 runs in the 2nd, 6 in the 3rd, and 1 in the 7th. Michael Soares led the way, going 4-4 with a double, 1 run & 1 RBI. Plenty of other players had big nights: Blake Newcomb, 3-5 with 1 run & 1RBI; Ben Broxson 2-4 with 2 doubles, 1 run & 1 RBI; Micah Bennett, 2 runs and 1 RBI; Charlie Bernardin, 2 runs & 2 RBI; John Kielar, 1 run & 2 RBI. Soares pitched 5 innings for the W, giving up 2 hits, 1 run, with 7 Ks. Nate Blunt finished the game with 2 strong innings, giving up no hits.
CCHS 4, Newton South 2
A thrilling comeback by the CCHS Varsity team! Newton South got off to a fast start, scoring runs in the first two innings to go up 2-0. CC was held to just two hits in the first 5 innings. In the top of the 6th, Liam Harrington walked and scored on a double by Michael Soares to make the score 2-1. After a walk to Byron Woodman, Ryan McCullar tied the game with a single. Micah Bennett also walked, setting up a two-out, two-run single by Gunnar Lyons, scoring pinch-runner Ben Broxson and McCullar. Harrington went the distance on the mound, giving up just 1 ER on 5 hits and 9 Ks, with 4 Ks coming in the last two innings. There were two key defensive plays: In the 5th, Blake Newcomb started a double play to get CC out of trouble, snagging a hot smash up the middle, stepping on 2nd for the force, and throwing to John Kielar at 1st to get the batter. In the 6th, Byron Woodman threw out a would-be base stealer at 2nd base for the 2nd out.
Waltham 9, CCHS 5
Down 7-1 early, CC rallied to get to 7-5, but lost 9-5. Liam Harrington, Blake Newcomb, Michael Soares, and Byron Woodman each had 2 hits. Harrington scored twice; Newcomb scored twice and had 2 RBI.
Matignon 1, CCHS 7
A great team effort by CC !! Blake Newcomb and Micah Bennett led the offense, each with 2 hits, 2 RBI, and 1 run scored. 7 different players scored runs: Liam Harrington, Newcomb, Michael Soares, Bennett, Ryan McCullar, Charlie Bernardin, and Ben Broxson. Soares pitched 4 innings for the W, 8 Ks and just 2 hits. Will Stanzler (2 innings) and Bennett (1 inning) were strong in relief.
CCHS 0, Nashoba 10
CC faced strong pitching and had only 3 hits, singles by Ryan McCullar, Christian Perrotta Jr., and Charlie Bernardin.
Lexington 3, CCHS 2
Only 2 hits for CCHS: A solo home run by Michael Soares in the 1st inning, and a single by Thomas Coloian in the 7th inning. Walks to John Kielar, Blake Newcomb, and Michael Soares set up the 2nd run for CC, with Kielar scoring on a wild pitch.

A classic game against long-time rival LS.
A solo home run by the leadoff hitter put LS ahead, 1-0.
In the bottom of the 1st, Michael Soares tied the game at 1 with a single.
In the 2nd, John Kielar and Blake Newcomb both hit 2-run HRs to put CC up 5-1.
After LS rallied for 3 runs, Ryan McCullar & Charlie Bernardin single, and McCullar scores on a WP.
In the 4th, with CC up 6-5, Soares singles home Liam Harrington. Soares and Newcomb pull off a double steal, with Newcomb scoring. Soares scores on a ground ball by Byron Woodman, 9-5 CC.
Then things got crazy. In the top of the 5th, with LS runners on 1st and 2nd, Ben Broxson gets out of trouble with a DP, 2B Bernardin to SS Newcomb to Kielar at 1st.
In the top of the 6th, Gunnar Lyons relieved Broxson with 2 runners on base. LS gets a run on a ground ball, but Lyons gets out of a bases loaded jam on a fantastic catch by Micah Bennett in RF.
In the 7th, LS again leaves the bases loaded, with Liam Harrington catching the final out in CF.
Newcomb had 3 hits, 3 runs, and 2 RBI. Harrington had 2 hits and 2 runs. Soares had 2 hits, 1 run, 2 RBI. Kielar had a home run and 2 RBI.
Harrington pitched 4 gutsy innings for the win. Broxson pitched one important inning. Lyons pitched the last two innings for the save.
LS left 8 runners on base, 6 of them in the last 2 innings!
Central Catholic 13, CCHS 5
A good effort against the #1 team in the state. Trailing 7-0, CCHS rallied in the 4th: Michael Soares hit a two-run HR; Micah Bennett and Douglas Fortier hit RBI singles, to make the score 7-4. But Central Catholic was too strong in the end. Gunnar Lyons pitched the final 2 innings, giving up no runs on 4 Ks.
Chelmsford 12, CCHS 8
Down 7-0 early, CCHS rallied, but fell short 12-8. John Kielar led the offense with 3 singles and 3 runs. Liam Harrington, Blake Newcomb, and Michael Soares each had 2 hits. Newcomb had 3 RBI; Byron Woodman and Ryan McCullar each had 2 RBI.
Natick 10, CCHS 2
Not much offense for CCHS. Blake Newcomb had two hits. Ryan McCullar and Will Stanzler each had an RBI.

Walks and errors led the way to 10 unearned runs. Michael Soares drove in all 3 runs for CCHS with a solo HR in the 1st and a two-run HR in the 3rd.
Lowell Tech 8, CCHS 9
CC rallies for 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th. Liam Harrington drove in two runs with a single. Blake Newcomb ties the game with a single. The winning run scores on a fly ball by Michael Soares. Harrington had 3 singles and 3 RBI, Soares had 3 doubles and 2 RBI. Thomas Coloian and Micah Bennett had 2 hits apiece.
